Camping is a fun pastime best spent with friends and family. And since man’s best friend can also be an important part of the family, why not bring them along! We’ve got 5 important pieces of advice to consider when “ruff”-ing it (or glamping!) with your furry pal.
Do evaluate the sleeping situation for your pooch once you’ve arrived at your destination. If you’re sleeping in an RV, pack a dog bed and a favorite chew toy or two to make your dog comfortable and settled in to his new home away from home. Dogs also tend to feel more secure when sleeping in a crate. This may be a good option to consider for days when the humans of the family are taking part in the many activities and attractions that Jellystone Park™ offers that take them away from the campsite — like swimming or mini golf.
Do confirm that you are in a pet friendly cabin and make sure you are aware of any specific pet policies regarding leaving your pet alone when you’re staying in one of our cabins. Many campgrounds will require the pet to be crated when its people are not there. You can view our pet policy and waiver here. To book a pet friendly cabin, check out our booking system and click “pet friendly” in the filter.
Don’t ever leave your pet alone for too long, and always take the current temperature into consideration, making sure your pet stays cool and safe.
Do bring a leash and confirm leash policies in advance. This will lead to fun walks and hikes, some of which may permit off-leash if you’re visiting a nearby trail or park — just be sure to check in advance in order to plan properly! And who says the nature trails get to have all the fun? Jellystone Park™ has a Bark Park on site where your dog can run, play, and burn off all its energy with other furry campers!
Don’t leave out your picnic baskets. Yogi Bear™ isn’t the only one who you could find snooping around your snacks. Keep people food out of reach from your pup to avoid the mess, the hassle of needing to go to plan B for meals, and most importantly, so that your dog doesn’t get sick.
We love our four legged guests at Jellystone Park™ and can’t wait to welcome you and yours! Woof!
