Kerrville River Trail: Beginner - 6 Miles

We cannot start our blog without mentioning the Kerrville River Trail, which is less than 10 minutes away from our Camp-Resort! The River Trail is a day-use 10' wide walking and biking trail for public use, which is an integral part of the city's parks system. It is about 6 miles long and trails along the Guadalupe River. You are also able to enjoy the many trailheads that help you learn a little more about the Kerrville area!

Old Tunnel State Park: Beginner - Distance Varies

One of the most unique trails near Fredericksburg is the Old Tunnel State Park. About 40 minutes from our Camp-Resort, this park provides a seasonal home for around 3 million bats. At the park, you are able to buy a ticket to experience bat viewing in the evening. However, if this is not for you, you are also able to enjoy a picnic, short hike, bird watching, stargazing, and more!

Fredericksburg Nature Center: Beginner - Distance Varies

The Fredericksburg Nature Center is the home of three trails near Fredericksburg -  Live Oak Wilderness Trail, Vista Loop Trail, and a Handicap Access Trail. These trails are only 30 minutes from our Camp-Resort and the perfect place for beginner hikers as you are able to choose not only between three trails, but also how many miles you would like to hike.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area: Beginner to Expert - 11 Miles

Located 18 miles north from Fredericksburg, The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is one of the most beautiful hiking trails near Fredericksburg. Hike the trails of this natural wonder to find a quiet spot, take a deep breath, and open your senses to all that Enchanted Rock has to offer. They have 8 different foot trails that vary in length as well as in difficulty. So, pick the trail that suits you best, and start exploring this magical place!

Cross Mountain Park: Beginner - Distance Varies

Cross Mountain Park is located on a historic hill with an elevation of 1,951 feet featuring beautiful views, walking trails, a butterfly garden, and picnic areas. This park is located about 40 minutes from our Camp-Resort, and is a great place for the whole family to enjoy!

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park: Beginner - 1 Mile

The crown jewel of Fredericksburg’s recreational parks is the 330 acre Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park. There is a one-mile walking trail along Live Oak Creek, along with a handicap accessible trail, which is about 500 feet in length, that connects the bird feeding area and the butterfly habitat along the Vista Loop Trail. The diversity of habitats includes lake, riparian woodland, post-oak savanna, and short grass meadows. Plus, it's only 30 minutes away from our Camp-Resort.

 

 

Elm Creek Park is the home to many trails that are perfect for those wanting to spend time outdoors.

Elm Creek Park: Beginner - Distance Varies

Just 5 minutes from our Camp-Resort is the Elm Creek Park. This 11 acre park not only has many trails, but they also have a pavilion, benches, and workout equipment. It is open from dawn - 11PM, and may require a fee to use the pavilion. So, if you are a first time hiker and want to have some fun, this Fredericksburg hiking trail is the one for you!

Singing Winds Park: Beginner - 2 Miles

The Singing Winds Park is the spot for those who enjoy the great outdoors. With not only a 2 mile hike/bike trail, it also includes an olympic pool, softball fields, skate park, playground, and more! Plus, it is only 15 minutes away from our Camp-Resort!

James Kiehl River Bend Park: Beginner - 1.5 Miles

When looking to hike around Fredericksburg, one of the trails that will appear is the beautiful James Kiehl River Bend Park. Only 30 minutes from our Camp-Resort, you can walk along the 1.5 miles of multi-use trails for fun, exercise, and nature study. Experience The Pecan Loop, The Prairie Loop, and the River Loop which leads down to the lower terrace and along the river's edge where awesome bald cypress trees shade the path.
